James R. Wilcox has over 20+ years experience in wound care and hyperbaric medicine. For the last 15 years he has been responsible for working with physicians, clinicians and administrators of wound care centers across the country to identify areas of focus for improving operational variability and enhancing patient outcomes, helping hospital partners understand and become compliant with ever changing Medicare requirements. Jim has assessed over 500 wound care centers across the country helping many centers become Centers of Excellence. He co-authored the clinical practice guidelines used in over 740 Healogics centers. At Healogics Jim developed a limb salvage process and since that time has improved that model. Over the past few years he has developed policies and procedures for inpatient, outpatient, and hyperbaric programs, and a complete set of practice guidelines designed to meet Medicare requirements to insure the highest level of patient care and reimbursement for both wound care and hyperbaric medicine. Jim formerly served in the roles of Clinical Nurse Manager, Program Director, Director of Quality Research, Director of Research & Quality for Medical Affairs, Vice President of Clinical Process. Most recently, he served as the CNO and Vice President of Research & Physician Education at Serena Group. His wide range of experience coupled with a unique skill set allows Jim to quickly identify issues and propose solutions to those issues.

Jim is board certified by the Wound Ostomy and Continence Nursing Society as a Certified Wound Care Nurse and Certified Foot Care Nurse. He is also certified by the American Academy of Wound Management as a Certified Wound Specialist, and is Wound Care and Diabetic Wound Care Certified by the National Alliance of Wound Care. Additionally, Jim is certified by the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine as an Advanced Certified Hyperbaric Nurse and is also a past President of the Baromedical Nurses Association. He is a Fellow of the College of Certified Wound Specialists and a Diplomat of the American Professional Wound Care Association. Jim is versed in all aspects of inpatient, outpatient, and home health wound care and hyperbaric medicine. As a retired US Navy Master Chief Petty Officer saturation diver he is a recognized expert in hyperbaric medicine with both mono and multiplace chambers. He co-edited the first nursing text book on Hyperbaric Nursing, and has 25 peer reviewed papers including a research study published in Journal of the American Medical Association. His most recent publication, and his fifth book chapter, is in “Oxidative Stress and Antioxidant Protection: The Science of Free Radical Biology & Disease”, published in 2017.
